　　Good morning/afternoon/evening, Sirs (gentlemen)! It is my ploeasure to meet you here. My name is Wang Liqin, from (Henan) Province. My hometown is a small village in Henan province. In 2001 I was admitted by Jimei Navigation University and I have been studying for nearly four years as navigation major there. I have got (am going to get) my diploma and bachelor’s degree in July, 2005. During my 4-year studies in Jimei, I have learned such courses as navigation theories, marine telecommunication, marine English, and so on.

　　I like sailing very much. When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a sailor and traveling around the world on board ships. Besides, my family is not rich. So by working as a sailor, I can make some money for my brothers and sisters. At the same time, I can lessen my parents’ burden in supporting us. I will work as a seaman until I become a master.

　　不論是用英文還是用漢文介紹自己，關(guān)鍵是不要太緊張，說(shuō)話的語(yǔ)速要適中，不要給人是在背書本一樣。至于簡(jiǎn)介說(shuō)多少，取決于考官的要求和考官的眼神。如果考官告訴你介紹什么信息，最好不要多說(shuō)，也不要少說(shuō)，適可而止。你還可以參考本書第一章所舉的某一船長(zhǎng)的自我簡(jiǎn)介。

　　4. Why do you want to be a sailor? 你為什么想當(dāng)一名船員?

　　Well, I like sailing and traveling very much. When I was a child, I had great admiration for the capable master, whose stories always moved me very much. I love challenging the sea, so if I am a sailor, I will have the chances to work under the waves and challenge the rough sea and weather. I also want to put my knowledge learned in school into practice. Otherwise, it will make no sense for my knowledge learned in school. Besides, I am a village guy and my family is poor. I was told that sailor could get more than those in other fields.

　　這是一個(gè)船東經(jīng)常提問(wèn)畢業(yè)生的經(jīng)典性的問(wèn)題。如何回答也很重要，因?yàn)榇瑬|想借此了解一下你做船員的動(dòng)機(jī)。

　　5. How long do you want to be a sailor? 你想做幾年船員?

　　It is hard to say. But I wish to work as long as possible, maybe until I become a master . To work as a master is a long-cherished dream for me.

　　6. What other plans do you have for the coming 5 or 6 years?

　　未來(lái)5到6年里，你有什么打算?

　　I shall work as a seaman for the coming 5 or 6 years. During this peroid, I will work hard to get the C/O certificates and I wish I would work as a C/O or even a master five years later .

　　提示：對(duì)于絕大多數(shù)船東而言，他們絕大多數(shù)人希望雇用的船員有長(zhǎng)期為公司服務(wù)的愿望，誰(shuí)都不希望自己培養(yǎng)的船員(特別是實(shí)習(xí)生)沒(méi)干多長(zhǎng)時(shí)間就走人了。所以說(shuō)，為了你的成功，也不要太坦誠(chéng)。

　　7. Do you think that sailing is a very ideal job for you?

　　你認(rèn)為海員工作是個(gè)非常理想的工作嗎?

　　Yes, because I love the job very much. Today, it is not easy for the new graduates to get good jobs. Compared with those students specialized in other major, I am lucky because I can get a job much more easily than they.

　　8. When do you want to get married?

　　你想什么時(shí)候結(jié)婚?

　　I have not got a definite idea on this. But I wish to get married at least after I finish this contract on board.

　　9. Do you have any hobbies? What hobbies do you like best, why?

　　你有什么業(yè)余愛好?你最喜歡那種業(yè)余愛好?

　　I like soccer very much, and I was a member of school soccer team. I also like basketball and football very much.

　　I like football best because I think the football sports can help us provide a team spirit. Every body should do his best in his position we just can win the game, same as on board ship, we will make good work skill and good maintenance at any where and any time.

　　業(yè)余愛好雖然不是一個(gè)專業(yè)問(wèn)題，但是考官往往通過(guò)了解你的愛好來(lái)了解人的性格特點(diǎn)。一個(gè)什么愛好都沒(méi)有的人在事業(yè)上是不會(huì)有太大的成功的。
