He is genetically defective, yet his yearning to become an astronaut has made him into an innovative subversive.
A broker arranges for Vincent to swap identities with Jerome (Jude Law), a genetically perfect specimen who was paralyzed in an accident. Using Jerome’s identity and blood samples, Vincent steps into the door of Gattaca Aerospace Corporation, and he eventually rises to become one of the elites in the corporation. However, his dream of going to outer space was put in jeopardy when a murder investigator threatens to reveal his true identity.

影片很多鏡頭都可以表現(xiàn)出男主角不信命，比如說離開家去追隨夢想，通過科技改頭換面，面對升空需要應(yīng)對極大的體能訓(xùn)練，醫(yī)生通過科技預(yù)測三十歲便會死亡他仍然好好地活著。但是印象深刻的是當(dāng)他的弟弟認(rèn)出改頭換面的哥哥的時候，他們兩個去比賽游泳，從小到大都是身體強(qiáng)壯的弟弟比哥哥游得遠(yuǎn)，但是這一次哥哥比弟弟還要游得遠(yuǎn)，甚至他救了落水的`弟弟。弟弟問男主角他是怎么做到的，男主便說，這是我的方法，拼了老命也不要放棄。其實(shí)很多時候很多人遇到一點(diǎn)困難就會放棄，比如我，放棄過很多事情，浪費(fèi)了很多東西，但是有一部分原因是因?yàn)槲覀冞�有退路，男主角并沒有退路，他想要實(shí)現(xiàn)升空的夢想，他被斷言只活到三十歲，而我們身后還有父母，父母會對我們說別太累了，放輕松點(diǎn)，可是正是因?yàn)檫@些說辭讓我們自己也安慰自己，別這么累了，讓自己過得開心的，何必這么難過，這是這樣的想法我們會一步一步放棄做到極致，逐漸變得平庸。

Unfortunately, Vincent, the protagonist of Gattaca, is such a person. In the future world, genetic technology has become very advanced. Doctors can use genetic technology to remove all bad genes from human fertilized eggs, while only retaining the most perfect genes from the parents. Deciding the gender of a baby is no longer a difficult task, and if you are willing, you can even determine the color of the babys hair and eyes. And those infants who have not been genetically eliminated are referred to as defective individuals. Vincent is a person with a genetic defect. Doctors told his parents when he was born that his lifespan was only about 30 years old. Unfortunately, Vincents parents were very eager for an excellent son, so they used genetic selection to give birth to a younger brother for him. 可是現(xiàn)實(shí)總是殘酷的。雖然法律明文規(guī)定有基因缺陷的人跟沒有基因缺陷的人享有相同的權(quán)利，可是像文森特這樣有基因缺陷的人還是處處受到歧視。雖然他的各項(xiàng)成績都很優(yōu)秀，可是他經(jīng)歷的很多面試都只有短短的一分鐘－－那就是在基因檢測儀器上按下自己的手指，由機(jī)器抽一滴血液。一旦經(jīng)過基因檢測，那些好工作就向文森特永遠(yuǎn)的關(guān)閉了大門。沒有辦法，文森特只能去做清潔工這種為不需要完美基因的人而準(zhǔn)備的工作。為了離自己的夢想近一些，他來到航天中心當(dāng)清潔工。他每天打掃衛(wèi)生的時候都能透過玻璃看著那些即將成為宇航員的人們走進(jìn)大樓，然后在他們下班之后到他們工作的地方搞清潔工作。他有時候也會偷偷坐在別人的電腦前想象自己成為這里的一員的情景，可是他始終是不屬于那里的，他最多也是偷偷坐在那里幻想一下而已�？墒窃谶@種情況下，他依然沒有向命運(yùn)低頭。有一次，他的一個工友對他說，玻璃已經(jīng)擦的很干凈了，為什么他還在不停的擦，他卻回答：“擦的干凈是為了讓你能更清楚的看到我在那里面工作！”
文森特終于找到了機(jī)會。他通過一個黑市醫(yī)生認(rèn)識了有完美基因卻因?yàn)檐嚨湺律戆c瘓的杰羅姆，并且達(dá)成了協(xié)議：文森特按月付錢給杰羅姆以維持他奢華的生活，而杰羅姆要提供血樣和尿液供文森特應(yīng)付基因檢測。再經(jīng)過一些手術(shù)，文森特終于獲得了有完美基因的杰羅姆的身份。而他借助杰羅姆的身份，很容易的進(jìn)入了航天中心，并憑借自己的努力成為了一名宇航員……再過一個星期，文森特就可以乘坐宇宙飛船到太空中執(zhí)行一年的考察任務(wù)。

最后，兄弟兩個決定還用小時候比賽游泳的方法來決定弟弟是否要告發(fā)文森特。結(jié)果是－－文森特又贏了，而且又一次救了弟弟一命。弟弟非常不解，因?yàn)閺幕蚩磥�，他是不可能會輸給文森特的，于是就問哥哥是怎么做到的。文森特告訴他：“我從來不為往回游而保存體力，因?yàn)樵酵坝尉碗x對岸越近！”是呀，這是一種破釜沉舟的精神，這是一種戰(zhàn)勝別人同時也能戰(zhàn)勝自己的方法。也許對岸遙不可及，可是只要你不停的前進(jìn)，總有到達(dá)彼岸的一天。
文森特的夢想終于實(shí)現(xiàn)了，他坐上航天飛機(jī)向太空飛去。與此同時，杰羅姆也結(jié)束了自己的生命。原來他的下身癱瘓就是自殺未遂造成的。他擁有完美的基因，是個游泳天才，可是他卻在比賽中得了銀牌。他覺得這是他的失敗，完美的他不能接受自己的失��！但是，他很高興在自己死之前，文森特跟他分享了自己的夢想。
片子中文森特的弟弟和以出賣自己的身份為生的杰羅姆是擁有完美基因的“完美”人類，可是他們卻不了解什么是生活的真諦，他們的人生是不完美的。文森特的弟弟以為自己有完美的基因，就認(rèn)為在游泳比賽中贏文森特是理所當(dāng)然的事兒。所以如果不是文森特告訴他為什么，他永遠(yuǎn)也不知道自己為什么被打敗。而杰羅姆以為自己有完美的基因，就認(rèn)為奪得冠軍是理所當(dāng)然的事兒，他竟然不能接受自己屈居亞軍而選擇自殺。雖然在最后他分享了文森特的夢想，可是他還是選擇了結(jié)束自己的生命。在他們看來，由于有完美的基因，自己所擁有的一切都是理所當(dāng)然的。他們的人生是平淡無奇的，他們根本沒有自己的夢想，他們也不知道為了自己的夢想而努力奮斗是什么感覺。因此，他們的人生是蒼白的！

It is better for rich, poor, advanced, and garbage people to be determined directly through genetics. The film is so straightforward that you feel shocked and hopeless. From birth, everything in your future life is determined. Why do you live, your profession, your life, whether you should spend your whole life picking up garbage or making spaceships. At first glance, this kind of life is despairing. We marvel at such an unfair society. But what is fairness?
People are born differently, whether in movies or in reality. Movies are separated by visible genes, while reality is separated by implicit levels. People born into different levels of families receive different education and encounter different things, and each person enjoys different resources, resulting in varying advantages in social competition. The advantage of unequal resources does not exist from the perspective depicted in the film. As long as the genes are good, anyones child can directly overcome other limitations and reach heights that may not be achievable through hard work in reality. The restrictions imposed by parental and family hierarchy no longer exist, and only genes determine the limitations. From certain perspectives, the system in the film is not very poor, only replacing the dominant core content. There is no true equality in the world. You can say that in reality, the results obtained through hard work are more fair, but how much effort falls under the weight of power and money. The various types of transaction darkness that emerge in life are the plundering of social advantageous resources.
However, life always requires hope, and the cruelest aspect of the film is not the inequality displayed everywhere, but the hope that is deprived from birth. No one can deprive a person of hope and ideals, which is the most despairing and unforgivable. The wise say, "Without ideals, there is no difference between humans and animals." Efforts can fail, but there is no right or wrong. Judging right or wrong should not be done by the government or institutions. Right or wrong is in my heart, in my heart.

人出生本就不同，不論在電影或現(xiàn)實(shí)中。電影通過顯見的基因分隔，而現(xiàn)實(shí)通過隱性的等級。出生在不同層次家庭的人所受的教育和接觸的事物是不一樣的，每個人享受的資源不同，導(dǎo)致在社會競爭中所處的優(yōu)勢不等。換成影片中的角度，這種資源不等的優(yōu)勢是不存在的。只要基因好，任何人的孩子都可以直接跨越其他限制，達(dá)到現(xiàn)實(shí)中可能通過努力也無法達(dá)到的高度。父母和家庭等級所帶有的.限制不再存在，決定限制的只有基因。出于某些角度，影片中的制度也沒有很差，只是替換了占取優(yōu)勢的核心內(nèi)容。世界本就沒有真正的平等。你可以說現(xiàn)實(shí)中努力所得的成果更為公平，但又有多少努力拜倒在了權(quán)錢之下。生活中涌現(xiàn)的各類交易黑暗，就是對社會優(yōu)勢資源的掠奪。
然而生活總是需要希望，影片中最殘忍的并不是各處表現(xiàn)出的不平等，而是從出生便被剝奪的希望。沒有人能剝奪并一個人的希望和理想，才是最最最絕望而不能被原諒的。智者說“沒有理想，人和畜生有什么分別。”努力可以失敗，但沒有對錯，評判對錯不應(yīng)該是政府或者機(jī)構(gòu)，對錯自在我心，自在人心。
